Splash time with Lucy

Last Sunday we had a play date with Little Miss Lucy at her house. AJ and Lucy played in the kiddie pool and ran through the water ball sprinkler. They had great fun! This water ball sprinkler is so cute, I had to pick one up for us to have one at home. We bought it at Target, its made by Little Tikes. Here is a link: Ultimate Beach Ball Sprinkler

Crabtree and Evelyn

I LOVE LOVE this store now! While shopping on vacation at the Outlets in San Marcos, TX Dagan took me into the Crabtree and Evelyn store, now I have to admit, I had never been in one before and probably would have never gone in there had she not been in there, but now I LOVE it!! Forget Bath and Body Works! I purchased this totally awesome body mist that is "black tea, vetiver and sugarcane" and oh it smells so natural and refreshing! When we got back to Denver, I found the outlet store at Colorado Mills here and have bought some of the this stuff to pamper myself:

Naturals - Lemongrass & Sugarcane Shower MousseMilk, Soy & Sugar Body Lotion

I tell you it is well worth the cost and you really only use a tiny bit and it makes lots of bubbles! I figure we spend a lot of money buying organic California Baby products for AJ, why not me too!

San Antonio Vacation with Dagan and Family

Jackie and Dagan

We finally got to take our vacation to San Antonio! It was great but VERY hot! It was wonderful to see my dearest friend Dagan and her family! I had not seen Dagan since the spring of 1997 when I moved back to Denver from Austin when I got divorced from my first husband. After I moved back to Denver, we lost track of each other and then thanks to Facebook, we found each other earlier this year! I was so happy to see her and meet her daughters Isabel and Lauren ( I had previously met her hubby James back in 1996). And Dagan was excited to meet Gilbert and AJ too! Dagan and I first met when we were about 16 years old and attending high school in Denver and became fast friends and at one point even were foster sisters when my mom and I had her move in with us for awhile. Even though we hadn't seen each other for about 11 years, the minute I seen her and hugged her it was like all those years didn't even happen. When you are friends with someone who is that special, and you connect with them on such a level, those feelings are always there. I love that woman so much, she is and always was my very best friend in my life and now that we have found each other again, I will make sure I never lose track of my friend! We spent the week shopping, swimming, visiting Sea World, the Riverwalk and eating! It was great and we can't wait till they can come to visit us in Colorado and when we can visit them in Houston!

Fathers Day 2009!

We had a picnic for Father's day this year at Boulder Creek and AJ had a wonderful time watching the tubers and the cyclist! He would tell them faster, faster! It was really nice in the shade and we loved our afternoon, till the rain came!

My Little Rockstar

Here is AJ, with his rockstar guitar!  He is growing up so fast. Its hard to believe he will be two years old in just a few months.  I still sometimes think I am going to wake up and find that I have been dreaming that I am a Mommy to this wonderful little boy.  He just delights me to no end, even when he is being ornery. I am so very blessed and am so very much in love with him.  I think that being a mom is challenging, and it is not easy working a full-time job and being a full-time mom, but I am doing what I have to for AJ to have the best life possible.  I wish I could be home with him, but the preschool that he attends is awesome.  AJ is learning so much and is very smart for his age group.  He is already saying his ABCs and counting up to 10.  He is an inquisitive little guy too! I haven't blogged in the last month because I have just been way to busy with AJ.  But  I will catch up soon.

AJ and his Vacuum

Here is a little story about AJ and his vacuum.  He loves this little vacuum that plays songs and even has a setting that sounds like a real vacuum.  Well honestly when we were at Target and I suggested we buy this for AJ, Gilbert really didn't want to, but I talked him into and AJ really likes it.  He pushes it around the house and I guess he really thinks he is vacuuming like Mommy does.  Well anyway, the other day, I was taking our vacuum upstairs, which is a Kirby (of course it is REALLY heavy) and AJ is watching me from on the other side of the stairway gate climb the stairs and he hears me say "wow this vacuum is so heavy"!  Well as soon as I did that, he ran into the family room, got his little vacuum and by the time I was coming back downstairs He was carrying around his little vacuum and saying "vacuum heavy mama"!  I about fell over giggling!  It  was about the cutest thing ever!  So now he frequently picks up his vacuum and tells us how heavy it is.  I finally caught him doing it on camera.  This little boy is just so cute to me!  His personality is so sweet and so funny.   Note the year on my camera off.

Fun at the Park!

I love it when we take AJ to the park after dinner or on the weekend. He loves to go on the swing or go on the slide. The whole reason that we picked this lot when we were having our house built was because it was right across from the subdivision park.  Well finally we are putting that park to good use!

My Loves!

I just could not be any more in love with these two people! They bring so much joy and happiness into my life each and everyday!  Everyday I am so thankful for the love I receive from both them, I just keep thinking I must be dreaming, this must be all a dream, how could I be so lucky!

To My Husband Gilbert, I want you to know how much I truly love you with my whole heart and soul!  You mean everything to me, and my life for the last 12 years just would have not been the same.  I loved you from the very beginning. I have so much faith in you, you are such an incredible husband, father and best friend.  Thank you!

To My little AJ, I want you know  that I love you so deeply with all that I am, I could not live with out you.  You are my world little boy.  I prayed for you to come to me and then there you were!  Even though I did not feel you inside my belly, I felt you inside my heart, you are my son and no one will ever take that away from me.  I love you AJ, and your daddy loves you too and we will always be a happy family.

Not a messy eater after all?????

So Saturday we were out shopping to get me my new iPhone and gilbert a new phone and then get some lunch.  And I decided to introduce Gilbert and AJ to Noodles, which I just happen to love!  Of course as always, we forget to pack a bib into AJ's backpack, and of course what did we decided to feed our little child at this resturant.....SPAGHETTI..!  Well, we sit down and I realize, we have no bib and that AJ is wearing a mostly white shirt, that I really really don't want to sauce all over.  Well to our amazement.....AJ ate his spaghetti, and not a single bit of sauce got on that white shirt!  Can you believe that???!!!!  Well I could hardly believe it myself, but here is the proof!  And I can tell you one thing, the little boy sure does like to ham it up for the camera!

My handsome little man

Well AJ is finally getting more teeth!  He went from 10 months old till about 18 and half months old with just 2 bottom teeth, and than last month he got the two top teeth in!  Now this month we think he is going to get about 4 more on the sides to come in.  He is handling it pretty good!  He is such a happy little guy!  He is about to turn 20 months old and is talking so much, alot more than the average 20 month old is.  He is saying about 60 different words and already putting 2 and three words together.  Here are some recent pictures of the cutie!

Cousins

This past Sunday, our cousin Leah and her little boy Caiden came over to visit us.  Caiden is a about 2 and half months younger than AJ.  We took them over to the park to play and they had alot of fun.  They got to ride over to the park in AJ's two seater wagon, that he got last year for his birthday.  It was so cute to see two little guys riding in that wagon!  Here are a few pictures of there fun at the park.

Awesome new product!

This stuff is awesome! I recently started using these products on AJ, because I noticed his skin was getting really dry and he was getting some really dry spots. I read about it on another Mom's blog and she was right, this stuff is great! In just a few days I can tell a huge difference!
Check it out:   California Baby
I found it at a much more reasonable price at Target, but they of course don't carry the whole line of products.  I specifically have been using this on AJ's diaper rash over the last couple of days and poof it healed it up fast!  And it smells way better than most products!  And it is very soft on his bottom.
California Baby Calendula Cream

We are also using this and he loved the smell of it the bath!  California Baby Super Sensitive Shampoo & Bodywash

AJ has a new friend!

We decided, well I decided that AJ should have a Goldfish like Elmo does. You know Elmo has Dorothy, his pet Goldfish on Seasme Street, so I though it would be fun for AJ to have one too. Gilbert really wasn't on board with this whole idea, but he caved in anyway and off we went to take AJ to his first trip to the Pet Store last saturday. So here is our new family member
"Bubba Albert"

And if your wondering why we named him Bubba, it is because AJ can actually say Bubba! I haven't taped him saying yet, but when I do, I will post a clip.

10 Things Happy Couples do!

I came across this list and I found it pretty interesting. In a couple of months we will be celebrating our 8 wedding anniversary and we have been together now 11 years almost. I am thankful everyday for having such a good partner, and friend in Gilbert. He loves me for who I am and I love him for who he is. This list really does make sense!

10 Things Happy Couples Do
by Teresa, The CuteKid™ Staff

Some couples just have to seem to have that extra something that makes their marriage great. But exactly what are those secrets of happily married couples; what they do that others don't? Read on for 10 activities that happy couples do.

1. Go to bed together. Going to bed at the same time shows that you want to experience the closeness that can only be found in bed. I have found that some of our best conversations occur with my head on my husband's shoulder lying in bed. My husband likes to stay up later than I do. But he also likes to cuddle with me in bed. So sometimes he will
go to bed with me and then get back up after we've had our cuddle time.

2. Have shared interests. Sharing your interests & ideas with life partner is
one of the activities of happy Couples. Stay together find things that they both enjoy doing. Before we had children my husband and I enjoyed four-wheeling in my husband's jeep

3. Hold hands. Holding hands shows that you are still in love. That you cherish just touching your partner and need that connection whether you are walking through a store or just sitting on the couch. Holding hands and walking side by side shows that you feel it is important that you are together in the things that you do

4. Focus on the positive. Remaining positive is one of the important secrets of happy married couples.. Everyone has something that they dislike about their spouse whether it is that he bites his fingernails or she spends too much money on clothes. But couples that are happy focus more on the positive things about their spouse than the negative. They look not at the few things their spouse does wrong - but all of the things that they do right.

5. Forgive. One of the hardest things to do is to forgive. But couples that are happily married forgive freely forgive each other. Not only do they forgive each other, but they also do not bring up past mistakes. Once the misdeed is forgiven it is also forgotten.

6. Say I love you. "I love you," is a very important sentence for happy married couples they like to tell each other. When you say the words you are reminding your spouse and reaffirming for yourself of the love that you feel.

7. Communicate. Commmunicate to stay connected with spouse. Communication is a secret to remain a happily married couple for years. Couples who can talk to each other stay together. Being able to communicate means that you can share the good things and discuss problems without getting angry. It also means that you probably talk to each other throughout the day. My husband and I communicate through email and phone calls during the day then always take time to talk to each other every evening.

8. Compromise. Sometimes you will disagree and that's when compromising comes into play. If both spouses learn to give then both will be happy.

9. Share affection. Giving affection through hugs, kisses, and touching, is important. It creates a bond and keeps the romantic feelings alive.

10. Show respect. Each spouse needs to respect the other and their desires. Mutual respect means that consideration is taken for the others feelings.

If you don't already do all ten things try incorporating some of these ideas into your own marriage.
